Hayden Eales

I've always been drawn to the process of turning ideas into something real: complex problems, inefficient systems, and the space in between where something better could exist. My path here hasn't been conventional, but every step has moved toward the same place: building intelligent products at the intersection of engineering, AI and real-world problems.

It started with a degree in Mechatronic and Robotic Engineering: software, automation, mechanics, electronics, robotics and systems design. My dissertation focused on modelling and classifying biomedical signals using wearable EMG sensors, work that predates the current AI wave but taught me the fundamentals I still lean on: finding meaningful patterns in messy information and building systems that interpret them.

Outside of engineering, I've always been a builder. I started my first business at sixteen and have run several since. Eales Web Design began as web development and evolved into something closer to technical advisory, helping founders turn ideas into working products.

Modern AI changed the overall process for people like me. I've always had more ideas than time, and traditional development timelines used to be the bottleneck between an idea and a working test of it. Using tools like Claude Code and agentic workflows, I can now prototype and validate in days what used to take months. I don't see AI as a replacement for engineering. It's an extension of it.

Most of what I build starts from somewhere I've actually stood: hospitality, tools to build and grow my own hobbies, parking systems shaped by bad experiences of my own, prediction tools for my own investments, and ways to improve and streamline my own workload. The common thread isn't the technology. It's finding the friction, understanding why it exists, and building something that removes it.

Before Everant Studio, there was a long stretch of client work. Eales Web Design gave me the freedom to work and travel wherever I wanted, running a team of five with as many as ten projects going at once. It taught me as much about people as it taught me about engineering, and it's the foundation everything since has been built on.

Currently at Hawksmoor in London, alongside running Everant Studio and Omnitrix. Before that, I worked across cocktail venues in Canada and the UK, including Mother in Toronto, ranked #37 on North America's 50 Best Bars and #7 on Canada's 100 Best Bars in 2023, and Bearfoot Bistro in Whistler, named a Top 50 Restaurant in Canada that same year. Before that, I was opening venues and leading bar teams across the UK and Australia, including several within five-star hotels.

The different sides of hospitality taught me very different things. High-volume service taught me to stay level when everything is happening at once, read a room in seconds, make decisions quickly and lead a team through a busy Friday night without losing focus. Working in high-end and five-star environments taught me something different: that great experiences don't happen by accident. They come from strong systems, obsessive attention to detail, consistency, and creating an environment where a team can perform at its best every night. Working in some of the best-rated venues in the industry brought those things together: the discipline of a well-run operation with the creativity and instinct needed to make something genuinely memorable.

More than anything, hospitality taught me how to understand people quickly. You might have less than a minute to work out what someone wants, what they don't want, and what might make their night a little better, then do it all over again with the next person, completely differently. There isn't always a brief, a second attempt or time to ask the right questions. You listen, you read the room, and you make something from what you've been given.

That's the part of hospitality I love most, and probably the part that has stayed with me most. Taking a vague idea someone has in their head and turning it into something tangible, on the spot, with no second attempt, is incredibly rewarding. Whether that's a drink, an experience, a new venue or a product, I love the process of finding the idea underneath what someone is asking for and turning it into something real, then seeing the genuine reaction when it actually meets the world. It's the same read I bring to a client brief, and it's a large part of why the reviews below sound the way they do.

That's the standard I hold myself to already, and it's exactly what I'm looking to keep bringing to whoever I work with next.
